Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Larry Steele and Dr. Aaron Fotsch began Ospika Animal Hospital, originally called All Mobile Vet Services, in the early 90's. They began doing large animal house calls and small animal medicine in clinic. In 2005 the practice name became Ospika Animal Hospital and changed its focus primarily to Small Animal care. Doctors Fotsch and Steele are both now enjoying retirement. Dr. Steele is an avid traveler and doting grandfather, and the always-busy Dr. Fotsch has started a sheep farm.

The Hospital has evolved to include several associate veterinarians, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge. Our focus continues to be care, comfort and quality veterinary medicine for our clients and patients.

  • Dr.
    Kim Swift

Dr. Swift has always had a passion for animal care. She was raised in Prince George and we're lucky that she decided to return after graduating from WCVM. Being a veterinarian combines her love of animals with her interest in helping people. She knows that veterinary medicine is about more than just pets, its about owners too. Dr. Swift strives to care for patients while communicating with owners and helping them decide what the best options are for their furry family members. Outside of work, Dr. Swift is usually busy with one project or another, but always finds time to travel or relax at the lake in the summer. Dr. Swift is a wonderful asset to our team, and she is at the center of our Ospika Family. Her family includes her daughter, Claire, husband, Rob as well as mutts Tucker and Brownie and her hand-raised Boxer, Zoey.

  • Dr.
    Jennifer McLachlan

Dr. McLachlan is an exceptionally caring veterinarian who fully immerses herself in her patient care. Dr. McLachlan really enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets. She loves the complexities of internal medicine cases and has an interest in ultrasonography. She also has a real soft spot for senior animals, particularly cats, and enjoys the long term care and end of life attention and comfort that she can provide. Dr. McLachlan has a huge heart for senior and special needs animals, and has not one but two diabetic pets. Her long time cat Chubby Chicken Burger became diabetic in his old age and since she was already giving him insulin twice a day she decided to adopt a diabetic Boston Terrier named Bella. Dr. McLachlan, her husband, 4 children and all the pets enjoy spending time camping together in the summer. We truly appreciate having Dr. McLachlan on our team, her dedication to her patients is extraordinary.

  • Dr. Marina Mann

We are very happy to welcome Dr. Mann back to our team.  Dr. Mann graduated from WCVM in 2015.  She is from Prince George, and worked at Ospika Animal Hospital throughout high school and then during her veterinary studies. We are so glad she has decided to return to us and is an exceptional and compassionate veterinarian. Dr. Mann loves all small animals and has a special interest in ophthalmology. Her pet family currently includes a cat, Penny (who definitely rules the roost) a Shepherd mix named Eddie, and horses Alto and Sandy. Dr. Mann has also recently taken a dive into raising chickens and we love hearing about their many aviary adventures.

  • Dr.
    Kaitlyn Liukaitis

Dr. Liukaitis is originally from Calgary where she obtained her Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology at the University of Calgary. She then proceeded to go to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. She absolutely fell in love with the island and it's lifestyle.  While in St. Kitts, she met her husband, her dog and her 4 red footed tortoises. Her final year of school was completed at Louisiana State University where she spent most of her time in exotics and wildlife wards. In Louisiana, her and John found their troublesome cat and their lop bunny (who was part of a research project at the university). Once graduated they both moved to Prince George to work at Ospika Animal Hospital. Kaitlyn wishes to provide best medicine to the exotic pets of Prince George in addition to working as the zoo veterinarian at The Exploration Place and helping conservation officers with wildlife as needed. Kaitlyn is a member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veternarians and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians. In addition to the animals listed above, John and Kaitlyn also have another rabbit, a chinchilla, 3 snakes, 3 birds and 2 geckos.

  • Dr.
    John Vu

We are very excited to welcome Dr. John Vu to our practice.

Dr. Vu is originally from California and attended the University of California Irvine before moving to the the Caribbean to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He has a great love for exotic species and wildlife and has spent time working at the Aquarium of the Pacific and volunteering at various wildlife rescue centers.
Dr. Vu enjoys working with all species but has a special interest in working with exotics, especially birds.
Dr. Vu shares a very busy home with Dr. Liukatis and their large herd of furry, scaly and feathered pets. Since arriving in Prince George, Dr. Vu and his 'Adventure Cat' Gabriel have enjoyed exploring the great outdoors of Northern BC, even though it's quite a bit colder than he's used to!
We are thrilled to be adding another passionate new veterinarian to our team and can't wait to see where his career takes him.
